Show #70, April 23, 2010

This week on the Revolution...Dr Brendan Hokowhitu of Te Tumu joins us to discuss the government's signing on to the UN Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Surely its been a good news for all non-reactionary New Zealanders. The attempts to contain the significance of this document to mere symbolism and aspirations don't sound convincing. Surely this will help frame and reaffirm all future struggles for self-determination. We put these issues to Brendan.

Also this week...Suzette Jackson from Greenpeace on the quiet war being waged on tropical rain forests. What has developed country's demand for bio-fuels done to bio-diversity, indigenous peoples and Orangutans? Are consumer boycotts enough or should we push for new international investment guidelines around the environment and agro-food production?
